What The Two Prices Buy
A bunk bed in a shared room is $650 a month. A single bed in a shared room is $750 a month. The difference between them is the bed, not the room. Every room at every Wellness Housing house is shared and every bed is rented to one adult. There are no private rooms, no apartments and no studios. Both prices include power, water and gas. The room is furnished before you arrive, so there is nothing to buy and nothing to put into your name.
The $50 Registration Fee
Moving in costs the first month plus a $50 registration fee. It is paid once and it is separate from the monthly rate. If you have a question about it, ask on the call before you agree to anything.
What There Is No Charge For
There is no credit check. There is no security deposit. There is no lease to sign and no fixed term, so nobody is signing a year away on a first phone call. Residents stay month to month. Renting a bed with nothing pulled on your credit goes through the full list of what is asked for instead.
How Residents Pay
Some residents pay out of pocket. Others pay through Los Angeles County. Wellness Housing accepts General Relief through DPSS, the DPSS Pilot Program and other third party rent assistance, and completes the housing verification forms the county asks for so that funding and the move in date are not held up.
Whether you qualify for General Relief, or for any other county program, is decided by the Department of Public Social Services and not by Wellness Housing.
